WHAT EXACTLY IS A COLD PRESS JUICER?

A cold press juicer is the best juicer for retaining healthy nutrients. This is because the cold press method of juicing creates juice by grinding up delicious fruits and vegetables into a pulp. Therefore, the name masticating juicer…it basically chews up the fruits without adding any heat. This helps the fresh ingredients retain the wholesome nutrients.

There are so many choices in today’s marketplace. Every company claims that they have the best cold press juicers. The bottom line is that there are a number of great products! You need to read up and find the best masticating juicers. The unit that’s best for your family and lifestyle is the perfect one for you!

Today, I’m looking at the best juicer machine selections that you will find. We are reviewing the 8 top-rated juicers on the market.

1. OMEGA J8006 NUTRITION CENTER JUICER

omega slow juicerThe Omega J8006 Nutrition Center Juicer is considered the “Omega slow juicer” (in relation to Omega’s other models). This slower process is widely believed to yield the most nutritious juice. This Omega masticating juicer has 80 RPMs, so it puts out less heat, extracting juice at a slower speed but retaining more nutrients. The Omega juicer truly is a fantastic way to juice!

PROS

WIDE ARRAY OF COLOR CHOICES:

There is a wide array of eight colors available with this Omega juice presser. You may choose from Aqua Blue, Black and Chrome, Grape Purple, Green, Pink, Red, Silver, or White. You can match virtually any kitchen.

LOWER VOLTAGE MOTOR:

As previously stated, the 110 volt, 80 rpm motor slowly extracts juice as lower temperature, yielding the best nutritional value.

QUIET OPERATION:

The smaller motor means quieter operation.

CONS

PRICE:
This Omega cold press juice presser on the higher end of the budget.
PREP WORK:
Because of the lower voltage motor, you must cut larger vegetables and fruits into fairly small pieces before you add them to this particular Omega masticating juicer. The machine may not function properly if you add large, dense fruits.
NOT DISHWASHER SAFE:
No parts of this Omega slow juicer are considered dishwasher-safe.

2. Breville BJS600XL Fountain Crush Masticating Slow Juicer

Breville cold press juicer

This model of Breville is similar to the famous Breville juicer, the juice fountain. However, it’s re-engineered to be the Breville cold press juicer. This model is easy to use and a favorite for people who are new to juicing based on its budget friendly mid-range price.

PROS

LESS PREP:
The Breville masticating juicer has 89 RPM rpm and a large chute for feeding the juicer with fruits and vegetables. This means that you can spend less time prepping and cutting up fruits and more time enjoying the tasty fresh juice.
QUIET OPERATION:
The Breville masticating juicer has a quiet 240 wattage motor. It is quieter than most juicers. I would compare the noise level to that of a blender, not the roar of some of the cold press juicers that I tested.
EASY CLEAN UP:
Breville cold press juicer is easy to clean up. Many of the parts are dishwasher-safe. There’s also a filter brush included for cleaning the filter (which isn’t dishwasher-safe).

CONS

MAY BE TOO TALL FOR SOME KITCHENS:

The Breville cold press juicer is a vertically oriented juicer. Check the clearance from your countertop to your upper cabinets if you have them to make sure it will fit into place.

WASTED JUICE PULP:

This juicer produced excessive waste of juice pulp. While you can run the pulp back through the juicer to obtain a higher yield, some people may not like this extra step.

STAINLESS STEEL FILTER IS TEDIOUS TO CLEAN:

The stainless steel filter which holds the juice pulp is constructed from a very fine mesh. This makes the unit very time-consuming to clean. You need to use the small brush to clean it thoroughly.

3. Omega NC900HDC 6th Generation Nutrition Center Electric Juicer

omega masticating juicer

Fans of this particular Omega cold press juicer…LOVE IT! In fact, many people consider it the hands-down best masticating juicer. Once I tried it out, it was easy to see why! It’s a little pricier than some other slow juicer, but the results are simply amazing.

PROS

SLOW JUICING PROCESS:
As with the previous Omega masticating juicer, the 80 rpm motor cold presses the juice keeping the fruits and vegetable nutrient-dense.
EASY CLEAN UP:
Of the units I tested, this Omega juicer was among the easiest to clean up. It comes with a brush to clean bits of debris from the filter easily.
FIVE ADJUSTABLE SETTINGS:
There are 5 adjustable settings that make this feel like the best juicing machine! The settings are simply 1 through 5. 1 is for the softest fruits and veggies and 5 for the toughest. This ensures an output of fantastic juice.

CONS

PLASTIC PARTS:

While it appears to be constructed sturdily, many of the parts are plastic. For the money, I’d like to see more parts fabricated from stainless steel.

HEAVY IN WEIGHT:

This Omega cold press juicer weighs in at over 17 pounds. If you don’t plan to store it on your countertop, it will be heavy to put away.

LACK OF COLOR CHOICE:

When you look at the wide array of colors with the first Omega cold press juicer, there is no alternate color choice with this one. It’s attractive, but some people (including myself) love fun-colored kitchen appliances.

4. Tribest GSE-5000 Greenstar Elite Cold Press Complete Masticating Juicer With Jumbo Twin Gears

Greenstar Juicer

The Tribest Greenstar claims to be the best cold pressed juicer for retaining minerals that other juicers may eject with the pulp. Since juicing is so important for a healthy lifestyle, it seems to make sense to retain as much of those vital minerals as you can!

PROS

BIO-CERAMIC, MAGNETIC TWIN GEARS:

The bio-ceramic magnetic twin gear technology helps this cold press juicer retain over 50% more of essential minerals zinc, calcium, and iron compared to other models.

LESS WASTED JUICE:

In addition, the bio-ceramic, magnetic technology helps to extend the shelf-life (in the fridge) of your cold pressed juice. For many people, this makes this model the best cold press juicer!

COLOR CHOICES:

This juicer comes in a selection of three elegant colors: Black, Chrome, or White.

CONS

LARGE PRICE TAG:

The Tribest Greenstar juicer is one of the priciest juicers I tried out.

HUGE AND HEAVY:

The massive size of this cold pressed juicer makes it extremely heavy. At just over 17 pounds, it’s hard to stow away after use.

DIFFICULT CLEAN UP:

There are a lot of little parts to take off to clean with this juicing machine. Clean up takes almost as much time as the juicing process!

5. Kuvings C7000S BPA-Free Whole Slow Juicer Elite

kuvings slow juicer

Some friends of mine are huge fans of the Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer Elite, so I had to check this one out.

PROS

LESS PREP TIME:
The 3” wide chute allows you to put pretty large chunks of fruits or vegetables into the Kuvings masticating slow juicer with very little chopping or prep.
QUIET OPERATION:
The Kuvings juicer was one of the quieter juicers that I tried out. I was able to use it without waking up my husband, who works third shift.
EASIEST CLEAN UP:
I don’t like washing up dishes. This one cleaned up easier than some of the others. If you don’t like the cleanup part of the process, you will find the Kuvings slow juicer to be the best juice extractor for your needs.

CONS

PRICEY:

This juicer is also a top budget cold press juicer.

ASSEMBLING PARTS:

You may find assembling the parts before you juice to be time-consuming or even confusing. It may take you a couple tries to get it just right!

TALL IN HEIGHT:

The height can be a pro or a con… This is vertically-oriented. It takes up a smaller footprint on the countertop. However, if you have low clearance between your upper and lower cabinets, this may be too tall to use comfortably.

6. Tribest Slowstar Vertical Slow Juicer and Mincer SW-2000, Cold Press Masticating Juice Extractor

Slowstar Juicer

The Tribest is the best juicing machine if you want a machine that has double uses. The mincer attachment turns the Tribest Slowstar juicer into a multi-tasking genius!

PROS

SLOW 47 RPM:

The 47 rpm motor runs slowly and makes this unit the best masticating juicer for avoiding heat transfer and making this a true cold press process.

MINCER ATTACHMENT:

Turn out sorbets, salsas, and purees with the mincer attachment, as it makes your juicer double as a food processor.

JUICE CAP:

The convenience I like most on the Slowstar juicer is the simple juice cap. You can stop the flow of juice while you switch up receptacles as they fill up. This makes it a neater, cleaner, easier process!

CONS

FOOD PREP TIME:

The Tribest Slowstar juicer requires food to be prepped by chopping into fairly small chunks prior to juicing.

DIFFICULT TO CLEAN:

The parts, especially the filter, were very clogged. It took a little elbow grease to get the parts cleaned up after use.

WASTED PULP:

The filter is very fine and held back a lot of pulp that was very wet and still full of juice. It can be run back through to press the juice. While I don’t necessarily mind the second run through, it is a little time-consuming.

7. SKG Wide Chute Anti-Oxidation Slow Masticating Juicer – Vertical Masticating Cold Press Juicer

SKG Juicer

The SKG is a large unit that turns out a lot of juice with very little effort. This makes the best cold press juicer for a person like me, with a very busy lifestyle.

PROS

WIDE CHUTE:
As the name SKG Wide Chute juicer implies, this has a wide chute. You can feed pretty large chunks of fruits and vegetables in without prepping.
60 RPM SLOW PRESS JUICING:
At just 60 rpm, there is minimal heat transfer. You preserve the nutrients and help prevent oxidation. This is one of the best masticating juicers to keep juices fresh.
REVERSE FEATURE TO UNCLOG:
I loved the reverse feature on the SKG juicer. All the juicers can clog up from time to time. It’s just part of juicing. But the reverse button pulls the pulp back out to clear out a clog without any fuss.

CONS

PULPY JUICE:
A lot of the pulp slips through the filter. I happen to like pulp in my juice. If you don’t you may not like this unit as well as others.
TALL, VERTICAL UNIT:
Check the clearance space between your countertop and upper cabinets to see if you can comfortably juice before purchasing this cold pressed juicer. It is almost 22” tall.
HEAVIEST JUICER I TRIED:
The SKG cold press juicer is the heaviest juicer that I tried out. It weighs over 19 pounds. This is a pro because when running, it didn’t wobble at all…not even a bit. However, I found it very difficult to lift.

8. KitchenAid KSM1JA Masticating Juicer and Sauce Attachment

KitchenAid Masticating Juicer

For those of you who read my previous KitchenAid review, I love KitchenAid and use mine all the time. I was intrigued to try out the masticating juicer and sauce attachment. I was not disappointed! This is by far the best masticating juicer if you have limited storage or countertop space.

PROS

EASY TO STORE:
This is an attachment to your KitchenAid stand mixer. The motor is contained in your stand mixer, not the juicer. This makes it compact to store. I have a tiny kitchen so this is the best juicing machine for my home.
BUDGET FRIENDLY:
The KitchenAid Masticating Juicer and Sauce Attachment is the most budget-friendly product in this round up. It’s worth the buy!
MULTI-PURPOSE:
If you like to preserve fruits and vegetables, you will love this KitchenAid attachment. It can also make sauces, jams, and jellies.

CONS

PREP TIME:

The KitchenAid Masticating Juicer and Sauce Attachment has a fairly small chute. You will need to spend some prep time cutting up your fruits.

WASTES PULP:

The pulp is still very wet after it comes out of the filter. You can run it back through to cold press additional juices. The time commitment may be off-putting for some people.

PLASTIC PARTS:

Some of the parts that I would expect to see stainless steel are actually comprised of plastic. Cross your fingers that it will hold up well!

CONCLUSION:

In conclusion, you are doing your homework and researching for the best juicer on the market. While there are a number of fantastic products out there, the best slow press juicer for you is the one that will best meet your own personal nutritional requirements. I hope that this article has helped you to decide which one is the best cold press juicer for you. The sooner you buy your juicer, the sooner you are on your way to feeling well!
